Housing Arrival Details

Dorm room details

  • Your room includes a bed, nightstand, desk, dresser, and closet.
  • All bed linens and towels are provided.
  • The bathroom and kitchen are cleaned daily. Dorm rooms receive weekly maid service, which includes dusting, vacuuming and fresh linen change. This service is included in the nightly dorm room per night rent.

Dorm room shared kitchen

  • All dorm buildings have a shared kitchen area.
  • The Housing Office provide pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishware, silverware & glassware.
  • Please label all your food with your name, room number, and date of departure and store open food in disposable containers or Ziploc bag. Ziploc bags can be purchased at local grocery stores.
  • The kitchen should be left in clean condition after each use Residents and guests are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.
  • All dishes must be washed, dried, and put away after each use. Housekeepers do not do dishes.

Houses and apartments

  • All houses and apartments are fully furnished and include all bed linen and towels.
  • All kitchens have a full inventory of pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishware, silverware & glassware.
  • All houses and apartments must be kept in good condition. The kitchen should be left in clean condition after each use. If you have maid service included in your agreement, maid service is provided weekly and includes a linen changes and general cleaning. Please note that housekeepers do not clean dirty dishes.

Group houses

  • Those staying in a group house were invited to stay and have been approved by the group house leader/manager. This person is responsible for keeping track of who will be staying and dates of their stay.
  • Maid Service is included in your rate and provided weekly. It is possible that the maid service will not happen between departures and arrival, as it is done on a weekly basis. Please be respectful of those who will arrive after you:
  • Take all the bedding and pillowcases off of the bed and put these in the green bag in the closet. Please leave the pillows on the bed once the pillowcases have been removed.
  • Remove your trash from the room.
  • Leave the room as clean as you found it when you arrived.
  • If you are arriving and find that the linens are not on the bed, you will find more linens in the linen closet in the hallway.

Rent payment

  • Rent is due before arrival.
  • If you are staying more than one month, your next payment will be due on the 1st of the month.
  • As of October 1, 2023, we no longer accept cash payments.

Changes

  • In the event of changes to your arrival date, email the Housing Office two weeks prior to avoid fees.
  • In the event of earlier departure dates, email the Housing Office 30-days in advance per the signed agreement. Fees will be applied accordingly.

Inspection requirements

  • Resident is required to be present at their rented unit for an arrival and departure inspection.
  • If arriving after-hours or on the weekend, (1) we can connect via zoom to walk you through the unit prior to your arrival and (2) you will be required to complete an arrival inspection review form and return it to Housing within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Residents must be present in the unit for departure inspections with the Housing Office staff, prior to leaving.

Emergencies

  • In the event of an emergency, dial 3131 from any Fermilab phone or 630-840-3131 from your cell phone.
  • Save this number in your phone.
  • If you lock yourself out of your dorm or house during business hours, please call the Housing Office at 630-840-3777 or dial ext. 3777 from any Fermilab phone.
  • If you lock yourself out after business hours, please call Security at 630-840-3414 or dial ext. 3414 from any Fermilab phone.
