Wearing a Fermilab-issued badge is mandatory for identification and authorized access to the site. Fermilab ID badges are issued by the Campus Access Office, which is located on the first floor of Wilson Hall and the Fermilab Welcome and Access Center (Aspen East) in Fermilab Village. For information on various badge types, refer to the following web page (Services log-in required).
HSPD-12 badges issued to DOE employees are also acceptable forms for identification while on site. DOE employees do not need to be escorted in nonpublic areas.

Badge requirements
Wearing your badge
All Fermilab employees and nonemployees must prominently display their Fermilab-issued ID, temporary badge or sticker, or HSPD-12 badge on the front of their body, positioned below the neck and above the waist. Fermilab badges should be worn only while on site. When you are not on site, your badge should be securely stored out of sight. Additionally, badges should be removed when being photographed.
One swipe, one entry
Fermilab has a “one swipe, one entry” requirement, which is a policy to mitigate unauthorized access to facilities and security spaces where entry is controlled by badge readers. “Piggybacking” or “tailgating” into Fermilab facilities through doors controlled by access readers is not allowed.
Each individual entering a Fermilab facility or security area is required to present their badge to a control reader for verification. Any individual who does not have approved unescorted access to the space must be escorted at all times. Upon entering a stairwell or elevator in Wilson Hall, note that one swipe per person is required.
Badge processes
Adding access on badges and keys

If there are no temporary access cards available to issue, the individual will be issued a blue business visitor sticker and will need to be escorted throughout the day.
Employees, users, affiliates, authorized guests and subcontractors who forget their badge will be issued a sticker at the gate and directed to retrieve their badge.

Employees, users, affiliates, authorized guests and subcontractors who lost their badge will be issued a sticker at the gate and directed to the Fermilab Welcome and Access Center (Aspen East) (nonemployees) or Wilson Hall (employees) for a replacement badge.
