The Security Operations Center is the central communication center for reporting emergencies and nonemergencies and is the resource hub for handling security-related needs. It is the Fermilab liaison between various emergency response teams, such as the Fermilab Fire Department and local law enforcement.
Reasons to contact the SOC
- Reporting emergencies or nonemergencies
- Returning a badge or reporting lost badges
- Getting a parking pass
- Obtaining keys and reporting lost keys
- Obtaining site or building access assistance (email cardaccess@fnal.gov)
- Getting help for residential or building lockouts
- Reporting property or vehicle loss or damage
- Lost keys
- Arranging access for Uber, Lyft or other ride pickups or drop-offs
Reporting emergencies and incidents
In an emergency, reach out to the Security Operations Center at 630-840-3131. The SOC will coordinate an appropriate response to include first responders (911), if necessary, or other FNAL personnel, and guide them to the correct location.
When calling, provide the following information to the dispatcher:
- Your name and call-back number
- Location of emergency (e.g. room, building, street,
intersection) - Nature or type of emergency

Not sure if you should call? Reach out to SOC. Whether the situation is urgent or not, let the SOC team know if something seems unusual. They may direct you to the non-emergency line, but you’ll still get the help you need.

The SOC is on the ground floor of Wilson Hall. It operates 24 hours a day, year-round.
