Access and Badging Appointments

You will need to complete the list below prior to making an appointment. Click each item to read more. We are not accepting same day or walk in appointments.

I am an Employee

New employees must complete all required steps prior to receiving a badge. Your manager should make your appointment for you. You can contact us to confirm your appointment.

If you are a non-US citizen, you will need to bring your Visa documents to the Visa Office prior to your badge appointment.

Non-term employees must have their key’s reviewed by their supervisors prior to making an appointment. You supervisor will receive a notice via email to review your keys a few weeks prior to your badge expiration. If your keys have been reviewed or you do not have an Fermilab issued keys, you can make an appointment.

Foreign national employees must check in with the Visa Office prior to being approved for a new Fermilab ID badge.  Contact the Visa Office

Term employees who are U.S. Citizens, including Scientist Emeritus and Retired Guest Scientist (GSR), must check in with the Records Office in HR to have their term renewed prior to receiving their new badge.

Once this is complete, Foreign national employees must check in with the Visa Office prior to being approved for a new Fermilab ID badge.  Contact the Visa Office

Once you have completed this step, make an appointment. 

I am an Affiliate, Authorized Guest, Contractor or User

Authorized Guests: You have no additional trainings.

REAL ID at Fermilab

Please note that beginning July 1, 2021 personnel requesting access to non-public areas of the Batavia and South Dakota sites must submit a REAL ID-compliant document as part of the badging process.  Additional information regarding REAL ID can be found at here.
