Life in the US & Fermilab

Whether you are with us for a short visit or plan to retire from Fermilab, we want you and your family to have the best possible experience. Fermilab Organizations and Clubs

While all of us at Fermilab are happy to help you and your family settle down, there is a Fermilab organization dedicated to this cause specifically.

NALWO – National Accelerator Laboratory Women’s Organization. All members of the Fermilab community, but in particular employees spouses and their families should join NALWO. Visitors and newcomers are especially encouraged to join NALWO activities. Fermilab community members are welcome to bring guests from outside the Lab community to NALWO activities.

Fermilab employees and visitors have also joined into many clubs by interest, as well as various sports leagues.

Volunteering

If your spouse is not allowed to accept gainful employment in the US, s/he still has many option of fulfilling volunteering activites.

Primary Education for Children

If you have school-age children they will be able to attend an Illinois public school based on where you live.

If you live in Fermilab Village, your children will attend the Currier Elementary, Leman Middle School, or Community High School.

Please contact us if you need assistance in enrolling your children in a public school.

Is your child too young to attend school? Fermilab’s Children Center might be an option or you can find other quality child care nearby.
